Paperdoll Design has quickly grown from a personal hobby to something that I am excited about sharing with everyone! I am constantly making new things, dreaming up new ideas, and getting my hands on new materials. As a result, this site will be changing all the time. Check back here frequently for information about the newest ready-made items and materials for custom-designed cards and books. My stationery and journal designs are currently inspired by Polaroid photos, vintage fabrics, and images from old textbooks and postcards. Right now, I am completely enamored with a complete set of World Book encyclopedias from the 1970s that I found on the side of the road!

Paperdoll Design was born out of a simple desire to learn how to make the kind of book that I would enjoy carrying around and in which I could keep my ideas. In the process I became more aware of the deep affection I have for objects that have fallen into disuse and the idea of their becoming useful again in a new and attractive way. With practice my creations improved in quality, and I began turning out professional-grade handmade journals, which I usually gave to friends as gifts. Soon I was asked to make books for weddings, birthdays, and other journal lovers.
My journals and stationery are tailor made to the specifications of the buyer, and happily, the hobby that began as a creative outlet has blossomed into a truly fulfilling endeavor.
I chose the name Paperdoll Design to represent the beautiful, old-fashioned, and vintage themes I incorporate into every book. I use authentic materials scavenged from thrift stores, used book bins, and antique shops. Like their paperdoll counterparts, which have fallen out of use due to the popularity of plastic, mass-marketed fashionistas, my creations represent a quality that hearken back to a time before machinery, when handmade items were the norm, not the exception. Paperdoll Design features funky, original designs, as well as a wide range of cover choices (including leather, paper, fabrics, and one-of-a-kind images), can meet the needs of anyone who is looking for an one-of-a-kind, special book or card.
